What sparked the love of music for the band?

The Sowell’s are a homeschooled family with a strong desire for a foundation in music. Each one started on the piano at the age of five. Their first stringed instruments were ukulele and tenor banjo. Before discovering bluegrass they played dixieland jazz and big band music. They discovered bluegrass at Silver Dollar City in Branson by watching Rhonda Vincent & The Rage at the Opera House. They’ve purposed to study the greats and learn the history of this incredible music.

What influences have helped to mold you into the band you are today?

Rhonda Vincent & The Rage
The Isaacs
Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder

Also, working with band coach, Stephen Mougin (Mojo) has truly made the most impact on us this past year. He is amazing!

Our main purpose is our yearly family mission trip to Eastern Europe and teaching children overseas music using a ukulele and introducing them to the bluegrass music we love which allows us to share Christ’s hope & love.

What’s the next step for the band and/or members of the band?

We’re moving to Tennessee to be closer to the music and will be working on future projects with hopes to set up & develop our own in-house recording studio.

Also, we will be working with an amazing group of songwriters; Donna Ulisse, Jerry Salley, Rick Stanley, & Marc Rossi to develop our skills in songwriting for future projects.

We would like to invite everybody over to our website to learn about who we are and possibly help our family return in 2018 to Eastern Europe. And we always are in need of prayer. Thank you kindly for allowing us to introduce our family to the bluegrass community!
