About Us
The Bluegrass Jamboree is a radio station that first aired in September 2013 and owes its existence to the efforts of Annette Grady, who hails from North Carolina. Annette was the pioneer who laid the foundation for the station, and Paul Gunderson, from Oklahoma, was also a prominent figure, being the first to broadcast live. As the station gained traction, it welcomed new broadcasters to its team, such as Calvin and Brenda Lawson, Brett Smeltzer, and Ed Asher.
When the Bluegrass Mix closed, many broadcasters who had spent time there migrated to The Bluegrass Jamboree. It was a bittersweet time, as the excitement of seeing the Jamboree expand was tinged with sadness, knowing that the Bluegrass Mix, a beloved station, would be no more.
We take great pride in playing a broad mix of bluegrass, bluegrass gospel, and traditional country. The foundation for this combination of genres refers to Annette’s grandfather’s training and influence and her days in radio with him.
At The Bluegrass Jamboree, we believe in the power of community and family. We replaced syndicated programming hours with live broadcasters to meet the growing demand, fostering a more interactive and engaging experience. Our radio personalities, like you, are part of this community. They use Facebook to chat with listeners during broadcasts, bridging the gap that automation has created. Our broadcasters are not just voices on the radio; they are your friends, going the extra mile to make your listening experience enjoyable.
Currently, The Bluegrass Jamboree has 36 shows and over 25 broadcasters. While most broadcasters reside in the US, the Jamboree is proud to have expanded to Ireland and the Netherlands.
In 2023, The Bluegrass Jamboree received its first nomination for the prestigious SPBGMA Radio Station of the Year. This recognition was a testament to our broadcasters’ hard work and dedication, even though another station received the award. The following year, in 2024, the station was again nominated, and we were thrilled about the honor. However, that thrill couldn’t compare to the overwhelming pride of receiving the SPBGMA 2024 Radio Station of the Year award, a testament to the support and love of our listeners worldwide.
The Bluegrass Jamboree has blessed many people worldwide, and our mission is to continue to touch many more lives. Whether you are a long-time family member or new to the site and the station, we are honored to have you here. Please get comfortable and stay for a while.
