Written by on August 6, 2023

Bear Chapman Still is a bluegrass band from southwestern Virginia, formed by father and son Daniel and Samuel Lowe. Daniel has been playing banjo professionally for many years, while Samuel is an accomplished songwriter and guitarist. The duo blends their traditional bluegrass roots with a more modern acoustic country sound, creating a fresh and exciting new take on the genre.

Daniel Lowe grew up in the small town of Cedar Bluff, Virginia, where he was surrounded by music from a young age. His grandfather was a mandolin player, and Daniel began playing banjo at the age of 12. His dedication to practice and growing his talent led to a gifted sound.

In his teens, he began writing his own songs and eventually decided to pursue a career in music. He often traveled to Nashville to write songs for country artists and played guitar in a few bands.

The duo quickly began writing and recording new music, and they released their debut single, “Cold Beer”, followed by the single “Break Away”. The song was a hit with bluegrass and acoustic country music fans. It helped to introduce Bear Chapman Still to a wider audience.

Since the release of the of the 2022 singles, bassist Dave Price has been added to the lineup.  Hailing from Abingdon, Va, Dave has contributed his talents and become a staple to the band.

Bear Chapman Still has been in the studio and is ready to release a single or two.  Their unique sound blends traditional bluegrass with a more modern acoustic country vibe. They are also talented musicians and songwriters.
