Brenda Lawson comes from a family of bluegrass lovers, and through this upbringing, she has committed a good portion of her time to the music herself. Whether she is behind the mic emceeing, doing a show, or helping with a family-promoted festival, Brenda keeps busy and has been dedicated to keeping bluegrass music alive in Virginia.

Calvin, Brenda’s late husband, was by her side for many years, working just as hard to promote bluegrass music. Calvin gained his wings in December 2019. While the name “Sweet Brenda & Him” was a name decided upon reflecting the two of them doing the show, listeners urged Brenda to continue with the name in Calvin’s memory.
