The band was formed in September 1994, evolving from its “parent band” East Coast Bluegrass Band, which was created in 1990. The original members came together to compete in the East Coast Bluegrass Championship in Crimora, Virginia, and won the Virginia Folk Music Society State Bluegrass Band Championship in 1994.
