Our main goal on The Bluegrass Gospel Hour is to tell others about Jesus Christ through bluegrass music and for me, bluegrass music is a way to help melt stress away. We try to help create a "bubble" around circumstances that can cause someone to be down and tell a positive message and with the help of bluegrass music, we hope to help melt that stress away and play a song that is the very song with the very message you needed to hear. Times are hard for so many people and maybe the bluegrass music will be able to help block stress and worries and help brighten your day. Bluegrass is a style of music that can help cheer us up. It can bring a smile to your heart and even if you're having the best day ever, bluegrass music can be the icing on the cake. My goal each week is to help just one person both have a better day and share the word of God through music. Remember to put God first. Pray everyday and let God's word be your armor against satan and sin. To me, no matter what mood I may be in, bluegrass music can lift my spirits. If you're having a bad day, remember to pray about whatever it is that has you down. And most of all, if the world knocks you to your knees, don't stay there, pray there!

Now airing on The Bluegrass Jamboree, Inside Bluegrass!! For more information visit our website. Nothing is better than being able to share Bluegrass music with the world. It's something that we take rather seriously at INSIDE BLUEGRASS “The Radio Show”, yet we try to do it in a creative and fun manner. Denny played in a Bluegrass Band for thirteen years called Siloa Creek with Earl Jarosh, Pat Schoenhart, Dolly Brown and Scott Nelson, until Pat’s untimely death. After Pat’s death they would still play on occasion at Siloa Lutheran Church in Rural Isanti County where the band was formed. Tom has always been a fan of Bluegrass and Classic Country music, but has not played music since high school and has forgotten how to read music. He tries to play a little on the Washtub bass but that’s as good as he gets. But he keeps on trying, maybe in a few years he will get better. (We hope) Dennis and Tom are both retired Cops. Tom and Denny worked together Part-time on the Metropolitan Transit Police for several years together, when Tom was a Minneapolis Police Officer, and Denny was a State Trooper. After Retirement their paths crossed again and they became friends again going to different Bluegrass events together along with their wives. Tom was working at KRWC AM 1360 a local Radio Station in Buffalo, MN. Where he engineered North Star League baseball games and High school sports. One Thursday night about 4 years ago they and their wives were at a Concert in the Park at Buffalo, MN where Monroe Crossing was playing and promoting a Bluegrass Cruise they were going on, and the boys and their wives signed up. It should be noted that Denny was friends with Mark Anderson and the whole Monroe Crossing band and their Booking Agent and former Guitar Player Art Blackburn as his band had opened for Monroe Crossing on several occasions. Joe Carlson the owner of KRWC asked them if they could try and interview some of the Bluegrass Musicians on the cruise for the station. KRWC has been Carrying Phil Nusbaum’s “Bluegrass Review” for more than 15 years. So Joe thought it would be good to get some interview with some local, Regional, and National Bluegrass talent. So the boys did just he asked, and got some interviews. When they returned from the cruise, Joe said well you know I really don’t have a format for playing these interviews you brought back. How about you guys start a Bluegrass Radio show so I have a place to play these interviews. Denny said to him “What do I know about radio? The only radio I’ve ever talked on is a police radio”. But we will try to do something. Well the guys put something together and started out with the help of Earl Jarosh on their first show from the KRWC Home and Garden Show in April of 2013. In late 2014 when KBEK 95.5 FM a 25000 Watt FM out of Mora, MN with studios in Braham, MN came back on the air after a management change. Denny had talked with the Management about picking up the show. Jay Menkie who is one of the owners plays bluegrass music in “Rainbolt’s Mountain Project” and liked the program the guys put together, so near the end of 2014 they started simocasting the show. That can be heard on KRWC AM 1360 or KBEK 95.5 FM and streamed on KBEK.COM on Saturdays from 11: AM to Noon Central Time. The Guys have been most fortunate to have such loyal fans and had the opportunity to interview some of the biggest names in Bluegrass Music today. Each and every one has been so nice, and so giving of their time. People like Becky Buller, Darrell Webb, Rhonda Vincent, Del McCoury, Joe Mullins, Junior Sisk, Larry Stephenson, The Gibson Bros, the Spinney Brothers, Marty Raybon as well and Monroe Crossing, the High 48’s , Blue Grove, Singleton Street, The Vogts Sisters, Curtis and Loretta, and the list goes on and on. Too many to names them all but you get the idea. Bluegrass, Old Time, and Country bands and their People are the best in the world no matter where they are or who they are. They go out of their way to be accommodating. Since beginning more than three years ago, we've come to play a bigger role in the music community than just a place where people come to listen. Our show has grown because we involve ourselves with local bands and with players from all over. The more people we meet and musicians we interact with the more we learn - which allows us to be better broadcasters, communicators and friends. Please send the guys a message on Facebook, or to [email protected] or on the website here, and let them know who you would like them to try and interview. A band you would like them to play on the air if they have not already. Maybe let them know about a new band that needs to get some airplay. It is our goal to spread the joy of Bluegrass and Old Time Music to anyone we can get to listen. We would also suggest that you check out The Minnesota Bluegrass and Old Time Music Association or MBOTMA as it is known. Check out their website at Minnesotabluegrass.com for Festival’s and all sorts of information on workshops, member bands, it is a wealth of information. Arne Brogger the Executive Director and Bea Fleming be able to point you in the right direction. Also consider a Membership, Denny and Tom are both members and there is a level to fit everyone.

Jeff DeFord was born in 1961 and raised in rural Indiana. At age 13 his junior high English teacher, Mr. Jim Johnson - who also worked weekends spinning records at nearby WSMJ-FM in Greenfield, Indiana - invited Jeff along to one of his shows to help answer telephone requests. The rest, as they say, is history. Even though he was only in eighth grade, Jeff’s enthusiasm was so evident he was asked to join a crew of high school students at the station that produced a weekly program highlighting various academic and sporting events, as well as other campus activities. After graduating Jeff attended Mesa Community College in Arizona majoring in English and Broadcast Journalism while interning at the campus-based NPR station, KMCR-FM, hosting a vintage jazz and blues show and was the play-by-play voice of Mesa Thunderbirds basketball. Later he worked in the sports department at KOOL-TV in Phoenix reporting from Major League Baseball spring training games and interviewing players, managers, coaching staff and team executives. He also produced, directed and narrated several student orientation films for the school, as well as a documentary for Price Sports Group regarding the progressive changes in sports medicine. After college Jeff moved to San Diego, California, working independently doing voice-overs, commercials, audio book narration and Master of Ceremonies for business parties, company picnics, wedding receptions and other public functions. It was during this time Jeff was starting to reconnect with his love of bluegrass music. Jeff always had a desire to share his collection of vintage folk and old-time recordings he had accumulated over his many years and after considering the new possibilities and eyeing the emerging popularity of internet radio, he realized he could host a show right from home! In 2006 his Bluegrass Roots And Branches show began an eight-year run at WorldWideBluegrass.com, with the old-time sounds immediately becoming popular with listeners of all age groups that were attracted to the unique format. In 2008 Jeff briefly relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, working with the legendary radio station, WSM, on the new Bluegrass Underground show, interviewing artists that performed at the Cumberland Caverns venue. He continued his weekly old-time music show, changing the name to Down To The Roots to better reflect the vintage music played on the program. He was also promoted to general manager and acted in that capacity until November, 2014 when Jeff moved his show to BluegrassMix.com, remaining there until May, 2016.
